Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Chandigarh to Agra β Arrival and Evening Sightseeing
Start the trip in Chandigarh and go to Agra either by train or road. On arriving at Agra, you will be transferred to your hotel by a representative of Rajasthan Cab take a nap. Then at night go to the Mehtab Bagh, the exquisite Mughal garden, on the Yamuna River. This location has a spectacular sunset scene of the Taj Mahal and it is a stunning place to start Agra. Afterwards, walk around Sadar Bazaar, where one can buy leather products, marble, handicrafts and have local street food. Dinner at the hotel and stay over.
Day 2: Taj Mahal and Agra Fort
Rise early in the morning to watch the sunrise at Taj Mahal. On of the memorable moments was the view of the morning sun upon itself, or on its white marble. See the good architecture, the principal mausoleum and the good gardens. In the morning, explore Agra Fort which is built on the territory of UNESCO world site. Of its great palaces, such as the Palace of Jahangir, and the Diwan-i-Khas. In the evening, go to the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, also referred to as the Baby Taj which is made of marble lattice and fine detail inlay. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Fatehpur Sikri Excursion
Drive to Fatehpur Sikri on the third day, which is outside agra. It is a city of red sandstones constructed by Emperor Akbar to remind of the Mughal ambition and art. Visit the huge Buland Darwaza (one of the tallest gateways in the world) and Jama Masjid that is still used as a place of worship. Explore the tomb of the saintly Sufi, Salim Chishti, and explore the court yards and palaces such as Panch Mahal and Diwan-i-Khas. Sightseeing by afternoon back to Agra. Shop at night at the Kinari Bazaar, where you may get souvenirs, handicraft, and marble carvings. Overnight stay in Agra.
Day 4: Mathra and Vrindavan Tour.
Following breakfast, make a religious day trip to Mathra and Vrindavan which are the two towns that have a close relationship with the life of Lord Krishna. Start in Mathra, paying a visit to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple which was the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Next visit Vrindavan and visit Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple and the popular Prem Mandir. Prem Mandir lights observed in the evening are also colorful which makes their surrounding magical enough to attract visitors globally. Dinner and over night stay at Agra after the tour.
Day 5: Chandigarh Home Departure.
On the last day, you leave the hotel in the morning and go to the great tomb of Emperor Akbar, the Sikandra. This monument has been unique as it incorporation of Hindu, Islamic, Christian and Buddhist features, which was what Akbar had envisioned of unity. It is a good way to end your trip, and it is surrounded by the serene gardens. Once you are done with the visit, go to the railway station or airport to have your five days trip back to Chandigarh carrying with you the amazing memories of your Agra package.
