Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad – Heritage and Culture.

Reach Ahmedabad, the biggest city and cultural center in Gujarat. Upon arrival in the city, check at the hotel and take a short rest then start visiting Sabarmati Ashram where Mahatma Gandhi resided in the course of Indian freedom movement. The serene river setting provides a significant preface to the state.

Then continue to the old city area, which is a place of pols (traditional housing clusters) and old architecture. Explore Jama Masjid and Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, which has got a complex stone lattice work. During the evening, go to the Sabarmati Riverfront and have local street food like khaman, fafda, and jalebi. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

 

Day 2: Ahmedabad – Modhera – Patan.

Following lunch, go to Modhera Sun Temple, the architectural masterpiece in the honor of the Sun God. The presence of stepwell and carved cut pillars in the temple complex displays the artistic perfection of ancient Gujarat.

Proceed to Patan, an old town with Rani ki Vav which is a UNESCO World Heritage. The stepwell is a wonder of construction and sculpture with vivid carvings of myths. Afterwards, go to Patola weaving centers to observe the use of traditional technique of weaving of silk in doubleikat. Get to the hotel in Patan and have a relaxing evening. Overnight stay in Patan.

 

Day 3: Patan – Little Rann of Kutch.

Depart Patan in the morning after breakfast and head towards the Little Rann of Kutch which is a unique eco system of a salt desert. On arrival, check in a desert resort or lodge. During the afternoon, visit some of the local villages as far as possible to get to know some local crafts and life.

During the evening, have a jeep safari adventure in the Wild Ass Sanctuary, where the endangered species of the Indian Wild Ass can be found, and migrating birds and desert animals. It is a wonderful experience to watch the sun setting over the huge white landscape. Overnight and dinner by Little Rann of Kutch.

 

Day 4: Little Rann of Kutch – Bhuj.

Then after breakfast you will drive to Bhuj, the cultural centre of Kutch. Arrival See Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal, with royal items and Indo-European buildings. Visit the Kutch Museum to get to know history, textile and tribal culture of the place.

During the evening, go to the neighboring villages of artisans like Bhujodi, which specialize in making shawls and textiles by hand. Get to know the local crafters and how they do things the old fashioned way. Overnight stay in Bhuj.

 

Day 5: Bhuj – White Rann of Kutch

It is a day to visit the White Rann of Kutch. Breakfast and then proceed to the Rann area. explore such villages as Hodka or Nirona that are well known in Rogan art, lacquer and copper bells.

In the afternoon visit the White Rann, which is a large salt marsh that is infinite. Stroll on the white salt ground and have photography experiences. Cultural shows, such as Kutchi folk music and dancing shows, occur in the evening. Night at a tent city or resort at Rann.

 

Day 6: Bhuj – Gir National Park

In the morning, after taking a breakfast leave Bhuj and go to Gir National park, the sole natural habitat of Asiatic lion. Upon arrival, check into your hotel or forest lodge towards the park.

Evening free and easy, in natural scenery, or in the villages adjoining Gir, to get acquainted with the life of the Maldhari tribe. Get ready to go into the wild the following day. Gir national park accommodation.

 

Day 7: Gir national park – Somnath.

In the early morning, take a jeep safari within Gir National Park which is conducted by trained guides. Asiatic lions, deer, leopards and many types of birds in the wild.

Breakfast then go to Somnath, which is one of the most sacred Jyotlinga temple of Lord Shiva. Go to Somnath Temple and relax by the Arabian Sea. During the evening, visit the sound and light show which tells about the history of the temple. Overnight stay in Somnath.

 

Day 8: Somnath – Diu – Departure.

Breakfast and then drive to Diu coastal town. Visit the Church of St. Paul, Diu Fort and the peaceful beaches. Use free time by the sea or take part in water activities, depending upon the interest.
