Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Coonoor to Delhi – Arrival & Drive to Agra
Your trip begins from Coonoor, where you board a flight or a train to Delhi. Upon arrival at the Delhi Airport or the railway station, you will be met by our tour representative and he will assist you start the journey to Agra. The trip on the Yamuna Expressway is delightful and uneventful, with the scenes of fields, little villages and towns in the side of the highway.
Upon arrival to Agra, check-in into your hotel and have a short rest following a long journey. It is worth going out in the evening to the local markets. Marble handicraft, leather, carpet and the famous sweet, Agra Petha are also known to occur in Agra. You can enjoy the city culture and traditions by walking through the colorful bazaars. Then leave and visit your Agra hotel and spend the night.
Day 2: Agra sightseeing: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and others.
Take a morning trip of the Taj Mahal in the morning at sunrise. The white marble monument makes a good sight to see in morning sunlight.The Taj Mahal was built by the emperor Shah Jahan to honor his late wife, the mumtaz Mahal and has become a miracle of the world and a permanent icon of love.
Go back to the hotel and have breakfast then proceed with your sightseeing tour. The second place to see is Agra Fort, which is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage site. Constructed of red sandstone, this massive fort was the center of the Mughal authority, and it contains palaces, courts of audience, and the courts that remind about the splendor of the Mughal dynasty.
Then go on to the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah commonly referred to as the Baby Taj. Noor Jahan constructed this beautiful monument in honour of her father and it is renowned by the outstanding marble inlay work and the delicate designs.
In the evening, go to Mehtab Bagh, a Mughal garden on the other side of Yamuna River. Here, there is one of the best sunset panoramas of the Taj Mahal, which are reflected on the river. Spend a quiet night after which you will go back to your hotel and have dinner and spend the night in Agra.
Day 3: Fatehpur Sikri Tour and Transfer out.
Breakfast and leave your hotel to drive to Fatehpur Sikri which is approximately 40 km away in Agra. It is an ancient city that was established by Akbar the emperor and was used as Mughal capital during a few years. This has now become a UNESCO world heritage site and you can visit stunning buildings such as Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal, and the tomb of Salim Chishti.
Later, return to Delhi. When you have time before your departure, you can also visit major attractions such as India gate or Lotus temple which are located in the city. You are to come on again to Coonoor, which is at Delhi.
