The route has gradual changes in altitude, scenic halts in Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Guptkashi and a trekking day dedicated to Kedarnath, which makes it very comfortable and devotional. The trip also ends with a peaceful stay in Ukhimath and Chopta.

Day-by-Day

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Bhubaneswar to Delhi (Flight) – Hotel Check-in

Start by taking a flight at Bhubaneswar and arrive at Delhi. Upon arrival, get picked up and go to the hotel. Spend the evening either in rest or in strolling through the bustling markets of Karol Bagh or Connaught Place. Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 2: Delhi to Haridwar (215 km / 6 hrs) – Evening Ganga Aarti

Breakfast, drive to Haridwar. It takes you through green plains and the first Himalayan foothills. Arrive and check in and get ready for the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri where hundreds of devotees assemble to witness the ceremony. Overnight stay in Haridwar.

 

Day 3: Haridwar to Rishikesh – Local Sightseeing – Stay in Rishikesh

Break and leave for Rishikesh. Discover such tried-and-true destinations as Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Parmarth Niketan Ashram, and the tranquil river ghats. The environment is a combination of spirituality and nature which will be an ideal beginning of your pilgrimage to the Himalayas. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

 

Day 4: Rishikesh to Srinagar (105 km / 4 hrs) – Scenic Mountain Drive

This is the day your climb up the mountains starts. Peruse hilly Himalayan, following the Alaknanda River with numerous and twisting drives through Devprayag. Travel to Srinagar, arrive and have a rest. Admire local markets or riverside. Overnight stay in Srinagar.

 

Day 5: Srinagar to Rudraprayag to Guptkashi (90 km / 4 hrs)

Breakfast, and then leave to go to Guptkashi. On the way, stop at Rudraprayag, the confluence point of Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers. Take pictures and head towards Guptkashi. Arrive and spend the day in the old Ardhnareshwar Temple. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

 

Day 6: Guptkashi to Sonprayag – Trek to Kedarnath (17 km / optional helipad)

Early depart and drive to Sonprayag. Proceed to Gaurikund using the local shuttle. Start your 17km journey towards Kedarnath with waterfalls, forests and snow peaks. Otherwise, select a flight by helicopter (when available). Arrive in Kedarnah in the evening and be present in the divine aarti of the temple. One night accommodation close to the temple.

 

Day 7: Kedarnath Morning Darshan – Trek Down – Return to Guptkashi

Early wakeup to visit Kedarnath Temple. The atmosphere of early morning, the singing of the temples, and the golden sunlight develops a very spiritual feeling. This is after darshan, walk to Gaurikund and take a drive to Guptkashi. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

 

Day 8: Guptkashi to Ukhimath to Chopta (70 km / 3 hrs)

Following breakfast, travel to Ukhimath which is the winter seat of Kedarnath deity. Pay a visit to the old Omkareshwar Temple and be spiritually peaceful. Keep on to Chopta also known as the Mini Switzerland of India with pine forests as well as grassy meadows. Rest in the cool mountain air. Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 9: Chopta – Optional Tungnath Trek – Return to Chopta

Either walk to Tungnath Temple (at your own will), which is the tallest temple of Shiva in the world. The walk is scenic and has the Himalayan panoramic views. Otherwise, no trekking and spend the day resting, taking walks in nature and enjoying the Chopta peaceful environment. Overnight stay in Chopta.

 

Day 10: Chopta to Rishikesh (170 km / 6 hrs)

Breakfast and drive back to Rishikesh. Check in and have free leisure time and visit cafes, riverbanks and quiet ghats. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

 

Day 11: Rishikesh to Delhi (215 km / 6 hrs)

Continue to move back to Delhi. Arrive and check in and rest. The local sightseeing or shopping can also be carried out on this day. Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 12: Delhi to Bhubaneswar (Flight) – Departure

Post breakfast move to Delhi Airport to board the plane back to Bhubaneswar. Go home blessed by Lord Shiva and memorable Himalayan experiences.
