Day 1: Meerut to Delhi – Arrival and Old Delhi Exploration

Start your journey from Meerut to Delhi by train or by road. Check in to the hotel on arrival and spend the day visiting the attractions in the capital. Begin at Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. Then take a rickshaw through the narrow streets of Chandni Chowk (the heart of Old Delhi) to see old bazaars of jewellery, spices and tasty street food. Visit the serene Mahatma Gandhi memorial site on the banks of the river Yamuna at Raj Ghat.Your sightseeing will include a photo stop at the grand Red Fort - the royal residential palace of the Mughal dynasty, this iconic marvel witnessed successive changes in power.

In the afternoon, travel to New Delhi and visit the beautiful Lotus Temple, which is known all around the globe for the lovely flower-like structure of the temple and its work to maintain plush green gardens. Later, proceed to Akshardham Temple, a beautifully ornamented temple, attracting  the people from different countries. Later in the evening drive along Rajpath, passing through the Presidential Palace (Rashtrapati Bhavan), Parliament House and take a break  at India Gate, the war memorial and then move towards the monument of Humayun.

End your day with some free time in Connaught Place, famous as Delhi’s busiest shopping and dining market. Here you can visit contemporary stores, handicraft shops or sit back in one of the numerous cafes and restaurants. Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 2: Delhi City Highlights – Culture and Modern Attractions

Visit the Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world and another UNESCO World Heritage site, which you will see after breakfast while exploring Delhi. The city’s Islamic past can be found here in Indio - Islamic architectural style and its ruins all around offer you a good look at medieval history of the city. Proceed to the Humayun’s Tomb which is often referred to as a precursor to the Taj Mahal due to its striking similarity and built in the Persian style with beautiful gardens. Afterwards, head towards Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of the premier Sikh houses of worship in Delhi. The golden dome, serene Sarovar (holy pool) and lively community kitchen (Langar) is soul-stirring and gives a feel of the spiritual and cultural side of the destination.

If you have time in the afternoon, visit Lodhi Garden, a peaceful green park filled with Lodi dynasty tombs and monuments.  Next, make your way to the National Museum or National Gallery of Modern Art, depending on your own personal likes in art, to see a small portion of India’s rich artistic and cultural history. Later go for a walk through Dilli Haat, an open-air craft bazaar featuring handicrafts, handlooms and brassware from various Indian states. Conclude your Delhi experience with a night at Hauz Khas Village, a bustling cocktail of ancient ruins, stylish cafes and boutique outlets. 

 

Day 3: Departure
