Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad & Exploring the City

Reach Ahmedabad and get into your hotel. Begin by paying a visit to the historic Sabarmati Ashram, which is a silent place that tells the tales about Mahatma Gandhi. Then, explore the crowded Manek Chowk market, whose streets are full of local delicacies. Take a stroll along the Sabarmati Riverfront in the end and return to your hotel to sleep.  

 

Day 2: Ahmedabad to Patan (Approx. 120โ€“140 km)

Have breakfast and then go to Patan, a city of good craftsmanship and old buildings. Visit the Rani ki Vav, a gorgeous stepwell carved with intricate designs (UNESCO). Next go to Patola weaving industries, where the traditional double ikat handlooms are made by the artisans. Evening stroll through the streets of Patan, then sleep in your hotel.

Day 3: Patan to Modhera & Onward to Ahmedabad (Approx. 60โ€“80 km)

Go to Modhera and visit the grandiose Sun Temple, a construction of the Solanki era that has magnificent architecture. Take time and enjoy the compound nature of the pillars and tranquillity of the temple. Then come back to Ahmedabad, where you can visit the Bhadra Fort or visit the local textile shops. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

Day 4: Ahmedabad to Vadodara (Approx. 110โ€“150 km)

Take a left to Vadodara, which is a culturally rich city. See the magnificent Lakshmi Vilas Palace, which was designed grandly with a royal background. Go on to Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery to learn about collections of art and archaeology. Spend the night by relaxing in Sayaji Garden, which is one of the largest green areas in Gujarat. Overnight stay in Vadodara.

Day 5: Vadodara to Statue of Unity (Approx. 90โ€“100 km)

Go to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia – an engineering wonder and the tallest statue globally. Explore the Viewing Gallery, Valley of Flowers, Jungle Safari, Cactus Garden and Sardar Sarovar Dam. The evening Laser Light Show is a wonderful narration of the legacy of Sardar Patel. Stay overnight in Kevadia.

Day 6: Statue of Unity to Surat (Approx. 150โ€“170 km)

Visit Surat, the busy textile centre of Gujarat, with its cultural and local cuisine. Begin with a tour of Dutch Gardens and then move on to Jagdishchandra Bose Aquarium. Then, in the evening, visit Dumas Beach to have a relaxing time on the beach. The markets of Surat have a magnificent variety of cloth and street food, which is perfect when the family is going. Overnight stay in Surat.

Day 7: Surat to Gir National Park (Approx. 250โ€“280 km)

Breakfast, then drive to Gir National Park, where Asiatic lions are found. Upon arrival, you are checked into your resort and spend the day watching cultural shows, walking in nature or simply resting in the natural environment. Stay overnight in Gir.

Day 8: Gir Safari & Transfer to Somnath (Approx. 70-90 km)

Begin the day with an early morning safari in the dense forest of Gir. You find lions, deer, leopards and lots of birds. Proceed to Somnath and pay a visit to the Somnath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. During the evening, attend the aarti and light and sound show. Stay overnight in Somnath.

 

Day 9: Somnath to Ahmedabad (Approx. 200โ€“250 km) & Departure.

Go back to Ahmedabad after breakfast. In case of time, come to Akshardham Temple or do some last-minute shopping. Then take a flight to the airport or train station and come back to Mathura.
