Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad and exploration of the city

Reach Ahmedabad and get into the hotel. This is the best place to begin your journey by visiting the Sabarmati Ashram, where you will get to know about the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Sabarmati Riverfront, Jama Masjid and the vibrant Manek Chowk market. Ahmedabad is a blend of old architecture, bustling markets, and local cuisine; thus, it is a good place to begin exploring Gujarat. Stay overnight in Ahmedabad.

 

Day 2: Ahmedabad to Patan (Approx. 120 km)

Go to the heritage and craftsmanship city of Patan. The stepwell known as Rani ki Vav is UNESCO listed and of Gujarati architecture. Go to Patola weaving facilities to observe the industry of making traditional double ikat textiles. Buy souvenirs in the evening shop in the local markets. Stay overnight in Patan.

Day 3: Patan to Modhera and Ahmedabad Back (Approx. 80 km)

Visit Modhera to learn the history and see the stone carvings of the Sun Temple. Slow down and take pictures, admire the views and rest in the neighbourhood. Go back to Ahmedabad in the afternoon. Go to Bhadra Fort or visit Bhadra for textile and handicraft shopping. Stay overnight in Ahmedabad.

Day 4: Ahmedabad to Vadodara (Approx. 110 km)

Visit the royal city of Vadodara. Lakshmi Vilas Palace has several art pieces and artifacts attributed to the Gaekwad family. Go to Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery and in the evening visit the landscaped Sayaji Garden. The buildings and the culture are family- and couple-friendly. Stay the night in Vadodara.

Day 5: Statue of Unity to Vadodara (Approx. 95 km)

Visit Kevadia to see the tallest statue in the world, the Statue of Unity. Tour the Viewing Gallery, Valley of Flowers, Jungle Safari and Cactus Garden. During the evening, you must watch the Laser Light Show, which is an interactive show about the story of Sardar Patel and the unity of India. Stay the night in Kevadia.

Day 6: Unity to Surat (approx. 150 km) Statue

Visit Surat, a textile, cultural and beach city. Explore Dutch Gardens, visit Jagdishchandra Bose Aquarium; and have a sunset rest at Dumas Beach. Surat boasts of vibrant markets and family food. Stay the night in Surat.

Day 7: Gir national park to Surat (Approx. 260 km)

Drive to Gir National Park, which is the abode of the Asiatic lion, after breakfast. Book into a resort and have an afternoon of cultural activities or strolling in the serene environment. Stay the night near Gir.

Day 8: Gir Safari and Drive to Somnath (Approx. 80km)

Begin with a wildlife tour in Gir National Park, where you can observe lions, leopards and countless birds. Then after the safari visit Somnath and Somnath Temple, which is one of twelve Jyotirlingas. Get to enjoy the grandeur of the temple by going to the evening aarti and the sound-and-light show. Stay the night in Somnath.

Day 9: Somnath to Ahmedabad (Approx. 250 km) & Departure

Breakfast, and drive back to Ahmedabad. You may visit Akshardham Temple and do some last-minute shopping at the local markets and then proceed to the airport or train station to get back to Madurai.
