Proceed towards Kaza- the administrative headquarters of Spiti Valley. En route, you see, over a breathtaking mountain drive the vistas of the scenic rivers of Chandra and Bhaga, cold desert landscapes that strike with their stark beauty, and then over a thrilling, sizzling ride reach scintillating Kunzum Pass, elevation of 4,551 meters. You check into your hotel at Kaza, and for the rest of the day, you just sleep. The drive would have given you an idea of what raw beauty is in store for you.

You spend this day exploring the picturesque villages around Kaza. Visit first, the largest monastery of Spiti- The Key Monastery which sits at the top of the hill, dominating the river of Spiti. Inside these monasteries are lots of frescoes and old books to provide much more profound knowledge regarding Buddhist culture. Finally, visit Kibber Village-which is also the highest inhabitation in the world. Architectures and the land there for photographers. Cap the day by visiting Asia's highest suspension bridge, the Chicham Bridge, with panoramic views of a deep gorge down below.

Drive on to Tabo, the village home to the glorious Tabo Monastery, famously known as the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas' - some exquisite murals and frescoes make the monastery an experience. This nearly thousand-year-old monastery, since 996 AD, is a heritage site at UNESCO. It is a really quiet and very contemplative place. Later, Dhankar Monastery was precariously placed upon a cliff from where the eyes could behold one of the few confluences in the land - the confluence of the two rivers, namely, Spiti and Pin. The monastery itself throws a lot of light on the rich history and spiritual heritage of the region. Return to Kaza for the night, reflecting on the day's spiritual encounters. 

This day is set apart to pay a visit to the marvelous Chandratal Lake, or 'Moon Lake' as may be termed as it bears a hue resemblance to the moon.
 
The drive to the lake takes one over some of the roughest of terrains with amazing mountain landscapes all around for one to view. On arrival, it is nothing short of magic against the background of the Himalayas-the bright blue waters of Chandratal. Take a nice leisurely walk around the lake, capturing it from all the different angles. You will camp near the lake in the evening and spend the night watching the peace of Himalayan night under the starry sky.

Start with an early breakfast in the serene surroundings of Chandratal; then drive back to Manali. The drive will give you your last view of the wonderful scenery of Spiti Valley close-up.
