Ayodhya was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Ayodhya, where Lord Ram was born. It was also mentioned in Hindu mythology and the Ramayana. The ancient scriptures of Atharvaveda describe Ayodhya as a destination that God built and compare its prosperity with the glory and splendour of paradise. In the Mughal empire in India, Babur was constructed as a mosque in Ayodhya tourism. It became part of the Mughal Empire and was ruled by them for many years. Besides declining the Mughal empire, it became a part of the regional state of Awadh, which the British later annexed.
