Places to visit in Jaisalmer
Sonar Qila – the opulent fortress rises from the desert itself and seems to become one with the golden hues of the sand. Witnessing the setting sun adds a unique charm and shrouds the Jaisalmer fort with mystique. It is one of the liveliest forts in the world, which houses 2/3rd of the city population.
Nathmalji ki Haveli was built by the two ancient brothers in the 19th century. Its awe-inspiring architecture on the two sides showcases a beautiful blend of symmetrical construction. Several miniature styles of paintings and mighty tuskers carved out of yellowish sandstone are used for decorating the mansion.
Salim Singh ki Haveli – the haveli was built in the first half of the 18th century, and a part of it is occupied by the descendants of the original residents. The high-arched roof is supported by carved brackets designed in peacock shape.
Patwon ki Haveli is among the largest and most elaborately carved Havelis in Rajasthan. It is a five-story structure that sits proudly in the narrow streets, embracing the early glory.
Jain Temples are located inside Jaisalmer Fort, which dates back to the 12th and 15th centuries. The temples are dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Shambhavdevji, two famous Jain hermits known as Jain Tirthankaras.
