The holy temples of Chardham open every year with the advent of summer in April-May and close with the onset of winter months in October-November. The four Dham temples, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, remain open for pilgrims from April-May to October-November. All the shrines close for winter and their worship can be done in their winter abodes.

Badrinath Opening and Closing Dates
Badrinath Dham will open for pilgrims on 23 Apr 2026 (Tentative) and will be closed on 13 Nov 2026 (Tentative). The opening date of Badrinath temple has been announced on Basant Panchami and the closing date will be announced on Vijayadashami.
Kedarnath Opening and Closing Dates
The gates of Kedarnath temple will open on 22 Apr 2026 (Tentative) and will be closed on the auspicious day of Bhai Dooj falling on 10 Nov 2026 (Tentative). Every year the date of opening of Kedarnath gates is announced and fixed on the day of Maha Shivratri. The closing date of Kedarnath temple has been fixed i.e. on Bhai Dooj, the gates of Kedarnath temple are closed for winter.
