This is a suggested tour of Rajasthan which can be customized as per your preferences and interests.
Your arrival in Jodhpur will be followed by a check in at the hotel and in the meantime, you can have some time to freshen up. Start off your tour of the city by visiting the grand Mehrangarh Fort which is one of the largest and well maintained forts in India. Then come to see Jaswant Thada, a lovely marble cenotaph in commemoration of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Then visit the Umaid Bhawan Palace where a portion is now a museum that displays the items used during the royal period. During the night time, walk around the busy Clock Tower and Sardar Market, the spice, handicraft and local Rajasthani textile market. Stay overnight in Jodhpur.
You will leave after breakfast to go to Jaisalmer, a journey of about 5 to 6 hours passing through the hospitable and beautiful sceneries of western Rajasthan. On your way, you may choose to visit the Pokhran Fort or the Mandore Gardens in the event that you have time. On arrival at Jaisalmer, you should check in at your hotel and take a rest. During the evening, you should visit Gadisar Lake, which is a serene and calm place and has many temples and ghats where one can get a good view of the sunset and Vyas Chhatri, a magnificent ensemble of cenotaphs with spectacular views of the city. Stay overnight in Jaisalmer.
In the mornings, visit the centre of the Golden City and see the well-known Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Quila. At the fort, the Jain Temples and the royal palace are some of the most detailed buildings to be admired. Next go to the renowned Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli, which gives us an insight into the rich life of the merchant families that resided there in the past. In the afternoon, take a trip to the Sam Sand Dunes which is some thirty to forty kilometers away. In this case, you will get to enjoy a camel ride or a jeep safari over the golden sands and then an evening of Rajasthani folk music and dance around a camp fire. The meal will be put on in the camp and you will spend the night in a classic desert tent under the stars.
You will spend the morning at the desert camp and after breakfast come to Bikaner, a drive of about 6 hours. When you reach there, check in to your hotel and have some rest. During the evening you can visit the Karni Mata Temple in Deshnok, the Rat Temple as it is popularly renamed, because of the thousands of rats that people venerate. Instead, explore the local sale areas and experience the vibrant street life in the city by walking through the area slowly. Stay overnight in Bikaner.
Begin the day at the spectacular Junagarh Fort, a magnificent architectural structure whose interior is well maintained with royal art and weaponry as well as history. Go on to the Lalgarh Palace, a mixture of the Rajput, Mughal, and European designs and also see the Bhandasar Jain Temple with its excellent carvings and unusual building made with ghee rather than water in the mortar. In the afternoon, leave Jaipur, some 6 hours by road. On arrival in the Pink City, have a rest in your hotel. Stay overnight in Jaipur.
Following the breakfast, start your sightseeing tour of Jaipur by visiting the magnificent fort of Amber, which is situated at the outskirts of this city. It is possible to get to the fort by jeep or by elephant back. You can have a photo stop on your way back at Jal Mahal. During the afternoon visit the complex of the City Palace, where there are museums and royal family courts. Close by, go to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jantar Mantar with its amazing astronomical tools. End the day by a trip to the Hawa Mahal, also known as Palace of Winds, with its distinctive facade where the royal ladies could gather to view the life in the city without being seen. During the evening you could visit the colorful markets of Jaipur (jewelry, textile, and handicrafts). Overnight stay in Jaipur.
It is a free day to relax or take sightseeing that is not compulsory. You may go to Nahargarh Fort where you can see the entire city, or even visit the Albert Hall Museum where you can see a wide variety of historical objects. To get more cultural visit the nearby villages of Sanganer or Bagru to observe traditional block printing methods. Patrika Gate, which is just outside Jawahar Circle, is a favored photography location. You may want to spend the night in Chokhi Dhani, a Rajasthani village resort themed resort, which also has traditional food and entertainment. Go back to your hotel and relax.
Based on flight or train schedule you will be taken to Jaipur airport or railway station to continue with your journey. Your 8 days trip to Rajasthan includes some breathtaking memories of royal palaces, desert scenery, and the rich Rajasthani culture.
